DVA Gold Card

The Gold Card covers treatment for every condition, not just the ones DVA has accepted. Here's how to get one in 2026.

Rates and rules checked October 2026

What it covers

The Gold Card covers treatment for all medical conditions, whether or not they're related to your service, through providers who accept it.

How to get one under the MRCA

  • 60 or more impairment points under MRCA permanent impairment, with no income test. If the original condition came across from the DRCA, you also need a new MRCA-accepted condition or a 5-point increase.
  • Eligibility for SRDP: at least 50 points and unable to work more than 10 hours a week.
  • The Additional Disablement Amount, new from 1 July 2026: over pension age, 70+ points and a lifestyle rating of 6 or more, and not receiving incapacity payments or SRDP.
  • Age 70 or over with qualifying service, automatically.
  • Under 70, on the service pension and with 30+ points, subject to income and assets tests.

Existing VEA Gold Cards are unchanged.

Common questions
